I remember that moment. I remember taking the photo you are looking at.
I remember being a few kilometers ahead of Jean, alone in the middle of a white, immaculate desert, as if lost on an ocean of snow, without shore or horizon.
It is April 6, 2023. That's when it all hits me. There are only twenty kilometers left before the North Cape, but it wasn't there that everything struck me — it was here.
At this precise location.
I stop for ten minutes, unable to move forward; I need to process these emotions.
The silence around me, the cold on my face, my tired legs.
And like something invisible, something very strong: the presence of my grandfather.
I realized that I had done it. That this dream I had carried for so many years, I had accomplished.
A feeling of total completion washed over me, sweet, powerful, indescribable.
And then, without warning, a tourist bus appeared out of nowhere.
The sound of the engine, the faces behind the windows, everything brought me back to reality.
We're almost there.
