That evening, we had spotted a secluded spot away from the main road. A barely visible track in the snow, then a vast white plain across which we dragged our bikes. It was a frozen lake. The perfect place.
We set up the tent for the first time in Finland. The bikes, planted in the snow, serve as anchors to prevent the wind from blowing off our roof.
The forecast is good: there might be auroras tonight. I don't really believe it, the sky is still overcast. But it will gradually clear up in the afternoon.
So we wait, our feet frozen, our hands in our pockets, our breath held.
